Martin
is the owner and founder of the Smile Oralcare practice.
He moved to the area in 1981 and founded his own practice
in 1983. For 17 years he helped it grow into a highly
successful enterprise. Martin then decided that the
time was right for a new kind of dental practice. Oralcare
was developed over a 4 year period and finally came
to fruition in February 2001.
Martin
has two daughters who are at Kirkstone House School
where his wife, Caroline is a teacher.
He is a gadget
freak and has more than a passing interest in wines. |
Martin
particularly enjoys aesthetic (cosmetic) dentistry and working
in partnership with patients to prevent dental disease. He
is a practitioner of Hypnosis and uses a fast-phobia-cure
for other phobias as well as dentistry.
Outside
of the practice Martin maintains strong links with the British
Dental Association, where until setting up Oralcare he was
a member of the Executive Board. He is currently chair of
the group which organises the National Dental Conference for
the profession which has been in Torquay, Harrogate and Belfast
in the last few years. This year will be Martin's final year
as chairman and the whole team will be joining him in Manchester
at the end of April.

Rowena
J Rimes
Rowena
is the visiting consultant orthodontist at the practice. Formerly
the consultant at Peterborough District Hospital she is now
at Addenbrookes in Cambridge. She is very highly qualified
and enjoys the challenges of complex cases offered by hospital
work as well as the more leisurely and intimate atmosphere
of private practice.
Helen
Brown
Helen has worked with
Martin for about 7 years and was one of 3 staff who moved
with him to the new practice. Having been on Maternity leave
with Marek her son she has returned part-time and fulfils
the roles of dental nurse and practice manager. Helen grew
up in Peterborough but moved away for a time, running a pub
in Lambourne along the way.
Tracey Tooke Tracey
grew up in Peterborough and has been a dental nurse since
leaving school. She is the most full-time of the staff after
Martin and works as his dental nurse 4 days a week. Tracey
has a daughter who is at school near the practice.
Dawn Biggs Dawn
is part-time receptionist at the practice and is rapidly learning
what all the dental terms mean. Dawn has three sons
who are at secondary school and has been a patient of Martins
for around 15 years, he has looked after the boys since they
were tiny.
Chris Hendry Chris
also has a young family and like most of the staff juggles
her work and home commitments admirably. Chris worked with
Martin at his former practice before having children and covers
both reception and dental nursing duties.
Carol Kerr Having
been with us quite a lot in the first few months of opening
Carol is more likely to be with us on relief now as she is
busy running her own Fancy
Dress Hire Business in March. Carol also has three
young children and sensibly chose a chef as her partner.
Liz Hayes Liz
is our meticulous cleaner who was offered all manner of inducements
to get her to come with us and clean for us as well as the
former practice. Liz is fastidious about her job and woe betide
anyone who walks on a wet floor after she has just finished
it. |
